Pilates and yoga can go hand in hand, with each one complementing the other. Pilates focuses on strength and performance, it is not typically used for mindfulness or mind-body connection in the way that yoga is, though it can help you to strengthen your core, increase your flexibility and improve your stability, which will support you in more challenging yoga asanas. Pilates can be an extremely rewarding practice and to help you get started we're offering a selection of Pilates equipment and accessories which have been favoured by professional instructors. Whether you need Pilates weights, resistance bands, or yoga blocks, you'll be able to find what you need for your home Pilates workout below.

What do you need for beginner's pilates?
Beginners will need a suitable mat to get started in pilates. Since pilates relies on using your body weight, a mat will offer more comfortable support and help to improve your grip during certain pilates exercises. However, as you progress you may find that you need to use resistance bands or yoga blocks to improve your performance.

What do I need to do pilates at home?
Technically, you do not need anything but your own body weight to practice pilates at home. But the use of a yoga mat will make your set up more comfortable. We'd also recommend investing in some resistance bands to make your practice more challenging, offer more structure, and help you to benefit more from your home workout.

How many times a week should I do pilates?
You should aim to do pilates 3-5 times a week, with a recovery day in between each session. If you are doing this alongside other forms of exercise, you can keep your sessions short to avoid overworking your muscles, or even drop the amount to just two times a week.
