Review #31

Isla and the Happily Ever After was stunning! I was expecting a more prominent New York backdrop, but was thrilled to find that most of the book takes place in Paris (*sigh*). This story was beautiful. Isla and Josh found each other and were able to realize that they were meant for each other. After Rashmi, I was really really hoping Josh would find someone else, and he did! Isla is so sweet and I loved her character development.

The inclusion of Kurt was something special. Perkins did really well at describing what life is like for someone in his position, and the friendship between him and Isla was so real that I felt like I was living it.

Josh was everything he was in Anna and the French Kiss and more; artsy, quiet, brilliant, and irresistible. Just him alone makes this book worth reading, but there is so much more that it has to offer. The sweet romance that blooms is absolutely precious, and the break up that follows was raw, true, and heartbreaking (aren’t they all?). But don’t worry, it all works out. (my heart melted when he waited in the snow all night)

And can I just say, Etienne and Anna get engaged!!!!!!!!!! That was honestly one of my favorite parts. It was the perfect addition and conclusion to the series.

There is too much to say about this book!!! It was so sweet and cute, as is Perkin’s style.

Summer is ALMOST here! And since I’ll be traveling to The City of Lights, I wanted to read another of Stephanie Perkin’s amazing books.

My latest read is Isla and the Happily Ever After, written by the very same who wrote Anna and the French Kiss! I am very excited to learn more about Josh and Isla!

Meredith and Anna Quote

“Why aren’t the two of you together?”

“We’ve missed our chance.”

“Anna. That is the dumbest I’ve ever heard.”

“But what? You love him, he loves you, and you live in the most romantic city in the world.”

“It’s not that simple.”

“Then let me put it another way. A gorgeous boy in in love with you, and you’re not even gonna try to make it work?”

Anna and the French Kiss was sugary-sweet, romantic, heart-warmingly charming, and melted-chocolaty cute! Reading this was like taking a four hour day trip to Paris and eating warm, flaky pastries, strolling hand in hand with a handsome Parisian/English/American sweetheart who buys you love poetry books and takes you around the city, and wishing on stars. It was perfect, it was beautiful, and part of me is in France now.

Etienne St. Clair is absolutely one of the most perfect characters to ever be created.

Thank you Stephanie Perkins for writing this novel! I adore it! It was simple and had a happy-ending, what more could we ask for?
