‘Yoga teaches us to cure what need not be endured and endure what cannot be cured.’
Guruji B.K.S. Iyengar, credited with spreading the gospel of yoga across the world, began to practise it as a young boy. He was, in those days, constantly unwell, and his brother-in-law thought yoga would help him cope. Over time, learning from his own experiences, Guruji refined and then redefined what he was taught. A disease-free state was no longer his goal; health, he had come to believe, included well-being of the body, mind, emotions, intellect, consciousness, morality, sociality and conscience.
It was ill health that introduced Guruji to yoga, and it was with yoga that he gifted health to millions across the world. In this inspirational book are stories of people with grit and determination, who overcame various challenges—amputated limbs, cancer, emotional trauma—with the aid of Iyengar Yoga. Guruji said, ‘Yoga does not change the way a person sees things; it transforms the person who sees.’ The book is a glimpse into how yoga can transform you if you open yourself to it.
Bringing together Guruji’s inspirational messages and his recommendations on asanas that help an individual cope with trauma, Imagine If is a necessary tool in our turbulent times created by Rajvi Mehta.

This is an English translation of Sri Prashantji's original Marathi book. This pocket-sized book opens up a whole new dimension on our understandng on how the organs and senses work. It gives us a very interesting combination of modern, physiological perspective on the organs and senses and the yogic understanding of the same.
The general understanding is that the senses of the eyes are for seeing, ears for hearing, skin for feeling and nose for smelling. This book explains how the functioning of the senses is not just mechanical like the eyes beings like cameras or the ears like a tape-recorder and how these senses are affected by the our mind, intelligence and emotions. It explains how the organs have their 'own mind' and how they are influenced by the emotions. For example, the heart beat rises with physical exercise and so also with fear.
A book which will open up our horizons and the way we 'look' at our organs and senses. Ultimately, it would naturally influence the way we practise our asanas and pranayama as these in turn influence and are influenced by our organs and senses.

The great mysteries in our lives are the understanding of our personality, how we relate with other people and the world around us, and our place, if any, in the vast scheme of things.
The other question we face is how we can improve our personal experience and our interactions with society, so that we live a happy, harmonius and helpful life.
For thousands of years, yoga has been addressing these questions and supplying the answers to them. This book is an attempt to simply blend the teachings of yoga with those of psychology, psychiatry and other branches of Western science to give us an overview of the human personality, an idea of where we are going, and guidelines to proceed on our journey.

Hatha Yoga Pradipika translates as a Light on Hatha Yoga and serves to shine a light on the practice of Hatha yoga.
The book includes the original Sanskrit text compiled by Maharishi Swatmarama with a translation and thorough commentary in english by Swami Satyananda and Swami Muktibodhananda. It elucidates the entire science of hatha yoga as it was conceived and practised, not for health and fitness only, but for awakening the pranas, chakras and kundalini shakti. This text points out that hatha yoga is not just a physical practice but a process of cellular transmutation from gross, to subtle to divine. Thus hatha yoga was considered the foundation of all higher yogas. This text clearly shows the link between tantra and hatha yoga, and also emphasises that hatha yoga leads to raja yoga, otherwise it is practised in vain. Line drawings and diagrams illustrate the text.
At the age of seventeen, the author Swami Muktibodhananda moved from Australia to India and became a worthy disciple of Swami Satyananda Sarawati. She became well versed in the scientific as well as traditional aspects of yoga. She now lives and teaches in Brisbane.

It is asleep. It is silent. It has encoiled itself. Its 'bedroom' is called Muladhara Cakra. This center is triangular in shape. Its aspect is gross. Its element is Prithivi (earth) Tattva. Tamoguna is its covering. It lies encoiling itself. It is called Kundalini.
In Sahasrara Cakra it joins with Shiva. The power then manifests itself. It is like a hidden fire which can only be kindled by the force of spiritual power. As the inner mind becomes concentrated and one-pointed, the power begins to awaken itself. As long as the inner mind remains gross or externalised, it sleeps.
It can be awakened by soul force or by will. But this is not the only means. It may be regarded as one of the methods. It can be awakened by Hatha Yoga, but neither is that the only method. You can call it one form of scientific method. It can also be awakened by practising Samyama on the centres and realising in experience their colour, elements, nature, Guna and the Bija. Nor is this the only method; you may just call it a good method.
