Othello by William Shakespeare is one of his most compelling tragedies, saturated with evil and injustice. Iago is pure malevolence, and as he slowly unwinds the lives of his fellow characters it’s hard to stop reading. Desdemona is graceful, patient, and loyal, and undeserving of the murderous death that befell her, but I was glad when she died. All the actions of the play were leading up to Othello killing her, and it was a relief for it to be done. Shakespeare has once again created a tale full of love, heartbreak, and deceit that will never be forgotten.
