I need to know if Conrad and Belly will last, so my next book is It’s Not Summer Without You by Jenny Han.

The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han was a very fun read. Although there was some sadness and tension, for the most part this book was just a relaxing summer story by the waves. I just really didn’t like the way that she ended the story. It sort of ruined the vibe for me. One minute Conrad, Jeremiah, and Belly were swimming in the pool together on an August night, and then suddenly it’s December. She chose Conrad which was a let down for me because personally I thought her and Jeremiah were a much better match, and then the book ended without letting us know how Susannah was faring (did she die yet?!). Other than that though I really liked this novel. I don’t have much else to say.

“He made it so hard not to love him. When he was sweet like this, I remembered why I did.”
“I’m not mad at you. I’m just–why does it always have to be Conrad?”
“I’m so, so sorry. Please don’t be mad at me. I couldn’t take it if you were mad at me.”
“You’ve always been my best friend. But now it’s more. I see you as more than that. You’re cooler than any other girl I’ve ever met, and you’re there for me. You’ve always been there for me. I…I can count on you. And you can count on me too. You know that.”
“I can’t believe I ever thought I loved you.”
“I do think about you. You know that. I just can’t…Can you…Can you just be here with me?”
“Everything else felt really far away; it was just us.”
“For me, it was almost like winter didn’t count. Summer was what mattered. My whole life was measured in summers.”
